Billy took off his tie, then stepped back and took one a look in his mirror. He sighed, shaking his head. He hated leaving but he had to. It was part of his job. At least he was back now, and the company wasn't sending him anywhere for at least another month. Billy breathed a sigh of relief.
He entered his wife's bedroom and sat down besode the bed where she lay. Billy tenderly held her hand and let his mind wander to distant pleasent memories.
He thought back to when they first met, how beautiful she was. Yes, she had aged, as had he, but he still found her to be the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on.
Billy remembered their wedding day. He remembered the jitters he felt in his stomach. He remembered the inadaquecy he felt at the thought of marrying such a wonderful woman. He remembered how his heart lept as he saw her walk down the aisle.
Billy remembered the births of their children. He remembered how scared he felt when the doctor told him he couod lose Laura, his wife. He remembered praying harder than he ever had before. He remembered the miracle God performed in their lives, making Laura and the baby healthy again.
Billy remembered birthdays, sickness, kid's weddings, financial difficulties, financial blessings, family funerals...Billie remembered and remininced on it all. He bent down, kissing Laura's forhead, and put his hands on either side of her face.
Laura awoke, saw Billy, and smiled her beautiful smile. "My Billy!" She said, the excitement ahining her eyes. "My Billy is home!"
Billy smiled as well. His Laura remembered him today! A tear ran down his face as he uttered a prayer of thanks and said "My Laura, oh my Laura. It's going to be a good day!"
