Jewels are beautiful treasures, typically worn or set about for all to admire. People will come from all over the world to view one, precious gemstone. People steal, murder, and more, just to have one to claim as their own.
What exactly is a jewel? It is a precious stone, cut into a particular shape, or smoothed down, and polished to a brilliant gleam. What makes one particular stone more precious than another? Why are, let’s say diamonds, more valuable and treasured than gravel? Many factors come into place when determining a stone’s worth, including color, hue, saturation, clarity, size, and durability.
While all diamonds, rubies, sapphires, etc. are precious and beautiful, some gain more attention than others. Let’s take a look into some of the more famous jewels. Among the most famous pieces are the Hope Diamond (45.52 carats, on display at the Smithsonian), the Tiffany Yellow (287.42 carats, on display at its flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York), the Dresden Green (41 carats, on display at the Dresden Castle in Germany), and Princess Diana’s engagement ring (18 carats, currently worn by Duchess Kate Middleton).

There are many jewels in this world, all of different colors, worth, and prominence. There is one jewel greatly overlooked, and worth more than all the jewels on Earth combined. This jewel in the Spirit of God, the gift of the Holy Ghost that lives and dwells in all God’s followers. This is the one jewel that you can take with you into eternity, therefore the only jewel worth any consideration, appreciation, and awe.
So many times we, as women, set a price on ourselves. We look in the mirrors, eye our physical appearance, and compare it to that of another’s. We take what we deem to be beautiful and make it priority. Maybe she’s worth more, in our minds, than we because she’s more slender, her nose is smaller, her hair is blonder, or her curves are more voluptuous.
Why is this so wrong? Because we are assessing and pricing flesh. What is flesh? Were we not created from the “dust of the ground”? Think about it…our flesh…is dirt. When comparing our flesh to others, we are placing a jewel’s price on a mound of dirt.
Let’s stop this madness, this utter nonsense. Let’s look and compare spiritual matters. Let’s strive to be more like others spiritually. Let’s look at the true, priceless jewel of another lady…the Holy Ghost living within her.

I need to lose more weight
I need to add the weight of other’s burdens
If only my hair were different
My hair is my covering, my glory
Her figure is so much prettier
Her prayer life is beautiful to behold
I’m going to join the “popular” group
I’m going to join the prayer warriors
I wish I could sing
I’m going to shout God’s praises
Remember, because you have Christ living in you, you are a jewel above all others, and beautiful beyond compare.
Love,
