I see you.
I see you looking in the mirror, inspecting every inch of your face. I see you looking your self up and down in your full length mirror. I hear your thoughts of criticism. I hear you taking every "flaw" and making it so much more than it really is. I hear you creating flaws you don't even have.
I see you lying in bed, hugging your pillow, holding back tears. I hear your thoughts again, going over every "personality flaw" you have. I hear you picking yourself apart, piece by piece.
I see your broken heart. I see how it started with a tiny puncture wound, then slowly tore, until it's nearly two separate pieces. I hear you wondering why you keep trusting, why you keep sharing yourself, when all that ever happens is another tear, another rip. I hear yourself wondering if someday, there will no longer be a heart.
I know it hurts. I know you've been lied to, cheated on, friendzoned, ghosted, taken advantage of, and more. I hear you wondering if it's even worth it. I see you taking your dreams and tossing them in the garbage, one by one. I see you setting goals for yourself that have nothing to do with who you are or what you desire deepest.
Beautiful, sweet lady. Please stop. Take a few breaths, drink some hot coffee or tea. Take a moment for you. You are so much better than this. You are an amazing creation, a child of the King and therefore a Princess.
Your crown is a little battered, but it's still a crown. Do not trade it for a jester's hat or a peasant's cap. Pick it back up, shine it up a little, and place it back on your beautiful head. Remember, keep wearing it proud, tatters and all, and you'll one day trade it for a crown of life.
Pick up those pieces of your heart those others so carelessly took and tossed aside. Carry them to the cross. Hand them over to the one who died for you. Who better to mend your heart than the one who created it?
Look in that mirror again. Smile. See what a difference a smile can make? It's radiant! You simply glow.
I know in the moment, all of this is easier said than done. I know the pain won't just disappear. I know you'll have good and bad days. Guess what? That means you're human! Congratulations!
How can one simple blogger say all of this? Because I am you...I have been there and I am there. You and I are currently neighbors in this fleeting place called life.
So wear that crown loud and proud, and smile, because God loves you. You truly are a Princess. Wait on his timing and you won't have to kiss a slimy frog or settle for a jester trying to pass of as more. You will have your prince, shining armor and all.
